yes, but it's with the 2.0 firmware. the 3.0 is new :

"Apple had their previous special event for the iPhone 3.0 SDK Preview:

Bluetooth Stereo support
Music lovers will finally have wireless music streaming to their ears. Along with this Apple has also opened up the Bluetooth API for third party developers to access it. Stereo support is not enabled for the first gen iPhone though."

I know there will be some use of Bluetooth, at least for P2P gaming. Hopefully there will be some open API.

However the official SDK still lacks background apps, this makes it useless.

Ok, it's possible to create a service for jailbroke iPhones. If there will ever be some working Bluetooth sample or BT documentation, I will try...

Hi, i want to bring the topic back on top
Because of the releases of the new iPhone 3.0 OS
in this releases it should be possible to use the
serial bluetooth stack, and on an jailbroken
phone it is also possible to run it in background.

So please could give it a try

We would be so pleased to use our cool watch
with an iPhone

From my point of view, creating such application for iPhone is more hacking than programing.

1. Bluetooth connection - I need some code sample
2. Background apps - ok, I know there is some unofficial documentation
3. How about new text message notification, how to read caller ID... I don't think this is in the official API
...

Hmm bump,
ok that are questions what should be discussd.
But I think when you started working with windows mobile you also haven't the answer of all
of your questions.
But maybe you could give it a try

P.s. thank you for the fast reply

What about an Iphone Hack for MBW connected to an Iphone? Are there any progresses for the future?

Hi moneytoo,

I've been a long-time user of smartwatchm for WM and I have been recently thinking about switching to the iPhone. After doing a little research on iPhone development here are my findings:

I think the ibluetoothproject has gone open source: http://code.google.com/p/ibluetoothproject/
Would this help in developing a port of smartwatchm for the iPhone?

As for running it in the background "backgrounder" could probably take care of that: http://code.google.com/p/iphone-backgrounder/

Now I don't think the official SDK allows you to get SMS notifications or caller ID info, but there might be ways to do this using the unofficial toolchain.
In particular the CoreTelephony library might be the key to this: http://code.google.com/p/iphone-dev/source/browse/trunk/include/include/CoreTelephony /CoreTelephony.h

Here are a few relevant links I found on handling notification events:
How to listen for received SMS and incoming call events: http://blogs.oreilly.com/digitalmedia/2008/02/when-it-comes-to-the.html
More extensive list of events to listen for: http://blogs.oreilly.com/iphone/2008/08/iphone-notifications.html
Follow-up post on event list: http://blogs.oreilly.com/iphone/2008/08/finding-iphone-interapp-notifi.html
Example on how to register an observer for notifications (e.g. this could be useful to show the name of the song, when a new "track selection changed" notification is received): http://blogs.oreilly.com/iphone/2008/09/uncovering-notifications-at-ru.html

I wish I could help more than this. Thanks for all your hard/great work!
